Larger churches find it more difficult to do in their main gatherings, and so tend to move this element into homegroups or whatever. I don't think that's necessarily a terrible thing.

On the other hand, there is definitely a culture of clericalism which survives the Reformation (e.g. all the discussion of spiritual gifts which I've found in the English Puritans is only about 'ministers'; no view of a gifted congregation per se). The charismatic movement kicks back against this, sometimes I think in helpful and sometimes in less helpful ways.

One thing that is definitely worth bearing in mind is that in many of our congregations a lot of people don't want to participate in that way, and it will take a great deal of culture forming, teaching, and example setting before it could flourish.Daniel Blanchehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15525641726889468099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30436844.post-61251192974497829312019-03-15T07:46:57.396+00:002019-03-15T07:46:57.396+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ben Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13320578490724889835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30436844.post-86654544848517703022019-03-14T16:25:42.800+00:002019-03-14T16:25:42.800+00:00Thanks for your thoughts Daniel, much appreciated ...Thanks for your thoughts Daniel, much appreciated as always.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14438237243634960838noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30436844.post-82673625725878750472019-03-14T15:21:56.199+00:002019-03-14T15:21:56.199+00:00This comment has been removed by the author.Ben Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13320578490724889835noreply@blogger.com
