He does make a good case (after a very quick read through). I do find the presence of the BD at the supper to be a sticking point with this and Richard Bauckham's alternative theories, so I'm probably going to stick with John son of Zebedee for now - but not cling to it all that closely.

Can you unpack a little the significance of the link between these two episodes in Thomas's career as you see it? I'm interested to see more of where you're going with it.Daniel Blanchehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15525641726889468099noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30436844.post-5765544978461219232012-07-03T20:08:08.889+01:002012-07-03T20:08:08.889+01:00Thomas's inclusion at the end takes on a new s...Thomas's inclusion at the end takes on a new significance if indeed Thomas was the one who thought the direction/sens/sense/significance of going to Lazarus' tomb was death. Especially if Ben Witherington is right that the 4th gospel may have been written by Lazarus - whom Jesus loved, the one he raised from the dead. FWIW I think he makes a very very good case.Chris Ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17277300338582244889noreply@blogger.com
